Unknown to many, one of the League’s newest clubs shares its name with another Huddersfield club.

Netherton (Wakefield), who are new to the league this season, and are based on the Horbury side of Flockton.

Playing at Denby Grange Cricket Club, the club has brought seven new sides to the RCD League at ages from Under 7 to Under 13 and are enjoying success already.

Their Under 11 side produced an impressive away win in Division IV as they won 4-2 at Brighouse.

Netherton were soon in control at Broad Oak Park as Brighouse struggled and by half-time the visitors were sitting on a comfortable three goal lead thanks to strikes from Jack Fozard (2) and Andy McWilliams.

Brighouse made a strong recovery in the second half but, despite scoring twice with strikes from Bradley Atkinson and Lewis Mukiama, an own goal ensured victory for Netherton.

Clifton Rangers Under 11 side stay third in Division IV following a comfortable 7-2 victory at Northowram.

The home side scored twice as they worked hard to keep pace with the game but replies from Alex Rawson (2), Leon Enright (2), Finley Clarke, Xander Turton and Jay Chapman eased Clifton to success.

In Division V in the same age group, Hade Edge’s promotion hopes suffered a setback when they were defeated at 7-3 at Battyeford.

Despite a Dylan Murphy strike and two from Wadsworth, Battyeford proved too strong and went on to secure a victory to leave Hade Edge in third.

Cumberworth Under 13 side moved three points further away from the Divison III relegation zone with a 5-1 away victory at Linthwaite.

A single strike for Linthwaite could not stop Cumberworth picking up all three points as goals from Oliver Pattinson, Luke Taylor, William Higham and a William Amaral double gave Cumberworth the win.

Marsden were dumped out of the Under 14 League Trophy by Meltham 4-2.

Strikes from Hepplestone, Lawton, Edgell and Govan sealed a place in the last eight for Meltham.

Brighouse Sports second string Under 15 side have struggled in Division II this season and a 6-4 home defeat at home to Lepton Highlanders will not have done anything to lift their hopes of avoiding relegation.

A lack of goals was hardly the problem as Brighouse scored four, but replies from Jacob Mulhall (2), Ryan Crossley, Reuben Kirkman, Payne and Charlie Hodgett gave the Highlanders victory to keep them second in the table.

Netherton (Hudds) retained top spot in Division II of the Under 17 section with a 5-0 victory at Ryburn United. A goal each for Henry Bratby, Jordan Porter, Wayde Moses, Daniel Russell and Billy Rayner ensured another three points for Netherton.
