Huddersfield Town Ladies Under 15s lifted the Sheffield and Hallamshire Girls League Cup with a 3-2 victory over Doncaster Belles.

But there was disappointment for the Under 18s, who lost 2-0 in their League Cup final against the Belles.

The 15s are seeking a third successive league and cup double and completed stage one of their mission in the final at Dronfield.

Skipper Laura Walker’s two goals included the winner, which was scored after she returned to the fray after coming off feeling ill.

Town went ahead after seven minutes when Tara Duce, Ella Harris and Amy Broomhead combined around the edge of the area before the ball came back to Walker, who shot home.

Doncaster began to dominate without ever testing Isobel Pare in the Town goal.

Town had one good chance to extend their lead halfway through the first period.

A Duce corner was won by Walker and headed on by Amy Broomhead, but between them, Walker and Olivia Bennett could only lift the ball over the bar from close range.

Town suffered a setback early in the second half when Walker was forced off. Olivia Tetley replaced her at right-back.

The Belles equalised nine minutes in, but Town were undaunted and were getting increased possession with Rose Priestley and Harris combining well on the left, Faye Allen breaking up play in midfield, Ellie Womersley and Eleanor Smith always available on the right and forwards Broomhead, Bennett and Lauren Bullock willing to chase anything.

It was Bullock who put Town back in front with a left-foot shot on 56 minutes.

However the lead only lasted eight minutes.

But with seven remaining, player of the match Walker, who had declared herself fit to continue, headed home a Duce corner.

Town have league games at Castleford White Rose on Wednesday (6.30) and Wickersley Youth on Saturday (11.00).

Last midweek, they were 3-0 home winners over Sheffield Wednesday.

Harris scored twice before Broomhead controlled a Smith cross and finished well.

The 18s put up a real fight in their final but were beaten by a strong Doncaster side.

Belles had the better of the first half but Town’s back four of Beth Halligan, Chloe Hellawell, Alex Bailey and Holly Coulson worked hard.

Doncaster hit the bar before Jess Holland shot over.

Town’s stand-in keeper Laura Neimantas saved well in the 37th minute.

Belles went ahead after 56, then hit the woodwork.

They sealed victory after 78 minutes. Neimantas made a good parry, but the rebound was knocked in.

Centre-back Halligan was player of the match.

Town head to Sheffield Wednesday for a league game on Saturday (11.00).

The Under 13s won 2-0 at Steel City Wanderers.

Keeper Emily Brookes made two good saves early on before Town took control.

Courtney Livsey shot just wide and Jemima Wood had a shot well saved before Macy Ellis broke the deadlock.

Gwen Hughes hit the bar and Harriet Waller had a shot saved before Ellis notched her second.

Defender Sophie Jackson-Sharp was player of the match for second-placed Town, who go to Chesterfield on Wednesday (6.30) and host leaders Doncaster Belles on Saturday (10.30).
