Get Smart Kirklees Sunday League leaders Linthwaite kept up the pace at the top with a 7-2 win over lowly Wellington B 7-2 at Reinwood Rec.

On target for Linthwaite were Bryn Jenkins, Josimar Bradshaw, Elliott Wilkinson (2), Connor Beaumont and Courtney Allette (2) – Jordan Greig and Ollie Chamberlain notched for Wellington.

Joint second placed Dalton only just defeated Field Head 1-0 to remain six points behind the leaders.

The victory came courtesy of a 27th minute header from Luke Haigh. as Dalton found Field Head keeper Ian Strudwick in fine form.

Level with Dalton on 18 points are Queen, who thrashed Mooreside Colts 11-0 at Skelmanthorpe.

Colts, already hit by injuries, saw their star striker Alex Dunn suffer an early injury and he swapped places with his keeper Alban Muca for a few minutes, before Dunn was forced to hobble off – leaving the Colts with only 10 men!

Daniel Naidole hit six for Queen, with Dave Brennan (2), Ryan John, Rob Piercy and Callum Crosby also on target.

Walkers Hounds also share second spot after beating Golcar Conservative 7-0.

Jimmy Meadows opened the scoring with a left foot volley, Sam Ansell made it two and Connor Sykes added a third, after Ansell turned the defence ,his shot hitting the bar, for Sykes to tap in the rebound.

A team move produced the fourth goal with Sykes rolling the ball into the net and then Lee Davies struck a great penalty for Hounds.

Ansell made it five and SYkes completed his hat trick with the sixth and Hounds rounded off the scoring through a Jamal Aslam strike.

Hounds now eagerly await facing leaders Linthwaite tomorrow.

Wellington A are just three points behind the chasing pack, after beating Meltham Victoria 9-4 at Dryclough Rec.

Matthew Mulvehill hit five goals with Abdulla Aka, Graham McLachlan (2), and Eurad Mpouli also on target for Wellington – Alex Gee, Daniel Tindall, Jack Ellis-Pownall and Joseph Baum scored for Meltham.
