The second round of the West Riding Sunday Trophy brought plenty of joy for get Smart Kirklees Sunday League sides with five progressing.

Holders Wellington A beat Salts’ third string 6-2 away with the visitors leading just 2-1 at half-time.

The second half Wellington cut loose and on target for were Marlon Adams, with a hat trick, Anthony Haigh, Mark Mc Sherry and Sam Buck with a penalty – they now play Clifton Rangers Reserves away.

Queen had the biggest victory beating Halifax Rangers 8-0 with goals from Kiero Lawrence (4), Richard Hirst, Ryan John and Dave Brennan (2) – Queen are at home against Bramham in round three.

League leaders Linthwaite had a much closer encounter against Garforth Villa at Royds Hall.

Linthwaite were 2-0 up at half-time, but in the second half Garforth levelled at 2-2.

Linthwaite rallied late on to secure the winner with seven minutes remaining – Josimar Bradshaw (2)and Connor Beaumont scored .

Linthwaite will now welcome Sandal Galaxy in the next round.

Walkers Hounds beat Armley Rangers 5-3 at Golcar and will host Scholes Athletic in round three.

Hounds went into the break 3-0 up after a James Meadows first half hat trick.

His first was the pick of the goals as he ran on to a Chris Cornelly 50 yard pass and lobbed the keeper from a narrow angle.

The second was a neat header from a Connor Sykes cross and he completed his hat trick when he again latched onto a Cornelly ball.

The game should have been over five minutes into the second period when the Armley keeper was dismissed for a challenge on Matthew Jones.

However, a lapse in concentration by Hounds keeper Gary Shipman-Hirst gifted Armley a goal.

The three goal cushion was restored after Sykes set up Cornelly to score, but Hounds let Armley back into the game with two quick goals, the first of a which a great strike from.

They sealed their place in the third round when man-of-the- match Lee Davies whipped in a cross for Edward Szostak to head home.

Dalton just edged out Heavy Woollen outfit Yorkshireman Kirkheaton 3-2.

The Kirkheaton side opened the scoring in the ninth minute, but Dalton were soon level when Courtney Allert finished from close range.

Dalton then scored two further goals before half-time with a 30-yard thunderbolt from Connor Kaye and a 25-yard volley from Chris Milby.

Dalton held on and play in Wakefield, against Henry Boons in the next round.

Wellington B went down 4-0 at home to Salts second string.

In the league the basement battle saw Meltham Victoria beat injury-hit Mooreside Colts 3-1, to gain revenge for a 3-2 reversal two weeks earlier.

Meltham were 2-0 up after 10 minutes, with a Sam Sykes penalty and a Craig Vant lob over Colts’ keeper Alban Muca.

However, Jamie Dury and Andy Batley were controlling play in midfield for Colts and Alex Dunne reduced the arrears.

The second half looked set for Mooreside to step up, but it was Meltham who had the majority of chances – with Colts keeper Muca performing heroics in goal – but Jack Pownall settled the issue with Meltham’s winner.

Golcar Conservative defeated Field Head 5-2 at Reinwood Rec, with Joe Davies (2), Matthew Brooke, Sam Moore and Iain McCaig scoring for Golcar, and Daniel Wright replied for Head.
