Despite holding a 3-2 lead late in the first half, YMCA suffered a stunning 12-3 defeat at the hands of Warley Rangers in the RCD League’s Under 13 Division II.

Kasper Stefanski gave Warley the lead after just 10 minutes and Zdenek Holdy doubled it just a few minutes later, but YMCA were quickly back in the game when Ben Crosland found the top corner of the Rangers net.

Having controlled much of the game YMCA were hanging on, but when they did manage to break, Warley struggled to clear their lines and Aaron Burnand made them pay when he fired into the top corner to level the scores.

YMCA were unlucky not to score again when the tricky Crosland ran past three tackles to lay on a pass for Steven Yates, but his shot was straight into keeper Morgan Howitt’s arms.

YMCA hit a third when Aaron Burnand cut in to drive a shot into the bottom corner.

The Warley attack had given defenders William Winnard, Joe Haigh, Louie Simmons and Harvey Corcoran a torrid time, but when the ever dangerous Holdy was pulled back on the right of the penalty area, the referee had no hesitation in awarding a penalty from which Rory Cockburn converted.

Unfortunately, YMCA’s resistance disappeared as the second half unfolded and with further strikes from Holdy (2), an Oliver Alexander hat trick and one each for Rory Cockburn, Alfie Pollard, Teddy Kemp and Joseph Knutton.

The Hudderfield FA Minor team made it two wins from two games in the West Riding County FA Cup after beating Wharfedale FA 3-1 at Otley Town.

Huddersfield scored in the 12th minute when Alex Tattersley was brought down in the box and captain Jack Cooper stepped up to convert the resulting penalty.

A Ryan Hargreaves volley almost produced a Wharfedale equaliser 15 minutes later, but Huddersfield keeper Oliver Fox saved well.

Luck was also against Wharfedale when they did find the back of the net with a well struck shot but the assistant had spotted a handball.

In the last 10 minutes of the first half, Huddersfield nearly scored twice, as first Kamail Russell set up Brad Hall, but he missed the chance and then from a right wing cross, Kurt Horsfall’s diving header was just over the bar.

Keeper Fox had to make another save to protect the lead and then Russell went close on two occasions. A long shot went narrowly wide and then faced with a one on one, Wharfedale keeper Sam Whittington stood tall to block the shot.

Huddersfield kept up the pressure and a spell of corners paid dividends when Craig Williams headed home to give his side a two goal cushion.

Wharfedale gave themselves a lifeline when Hargreaves ran onto a long ball to narrow the gap to 2-1 but within a couple of minutes, Huddersfield had secured victory as they hit their third through Brad Hall.
