Huddersfield Town host Middlesbrough looking to get their first points of the David Wagner era. The new boss will be aiming for a result in his first game in front of the John Smith's faithful, but the fixture calendar hasn't been kind.

Boro are chasing promotion and make the journey south having lost just four of their opening 17 league games. The visitors also have the third stingiest defence in the Championship, lying behind only Hull and Derby with just 12 goals conceded.

In fact, should they win against Town and see other results go their way, they could be top of the tree by teatime.

However, Huddersfield will be motivated to impress their new manager and get some points on the board to try and climb away from danger.

It promises to be an intriguing clash.

Here's everything you need to know at a glance...

Managers' notes

David Wagner

The Huddersfield boss is determined to play his own game.

He said: "I am very happy to have this game. We will play the same way, all that changes is where we try to build up our fighting zone, whether it is higher or deeper.

"We will try to play our game, home or away. The plan is for speed, passion, to go full throttle, have a good transition game and show the fans we are working hard. At the end, hopefully it will be the right result."

Aitor Karanka

On the other side of the fence, the Boro boss has urged caution against judging the game on the Championship table before a ball has been kicked.

He said: “It would be the biggest mistake to look at the table and think (tomorrow) will be an easy game.

“They lost at Sheffield Wednesday (last Saturday) but the first 70 minutes were really good. They have a new manager, David Wagner, on the bench, they’re in trouble and need points."

Betting Latest

Boro are flying high in the Championship, so no real surprise to see them made favourites with the bookies. They are priced at 11/10 with the majority of outlets, while Town come in at around 11/4.

You can 11/2 on a 1-1 draw or 15/2 if you back the 0-0.

Fancy a flutter on first goalscorer? Dean Whitehead to net against his former club is 28/1, or if you prefer to go with a striker, Nahki Wells is 15/2 to break the deadlock.

The Last Time

It doesn't make for the most optimistic pre-match viewing - Boro ran out 2-0 winners the last time these two sides met in January 2015.

Lee Tomlin, now with Premier League side Bournemouth, grabbed both goals.
