Huddersfield Town fell victim to Manchester United loanee James Wilson as they suffered a first defeat in six Championship games.

Wilson headed a 68th-minute winner to end Town's hopes after Harry Bunn had nodded home in first-half stoppage time to cancel out Bobby Zamora's opener.

To make matters worse, Town had full-back Tommy Smith sent off, while skipper Mark Hudson also faces a suspension after a 10th booking of
the season.

First half

Huddersfield Town made a bright start, although an early yellow card for skipper Mark Hudson brought a two-game ban as it was his 10th of
the season.

Right-back Tommy Smith, a scorer at Reading last Tuesday, drove an early shot into the side-netting while home keeper David Stockdale had to come out of his area to thwart Nahki Wells as the Town striker chased an Emyr Huws pass.

Brighton gradually got into the game, and Jamie Murphy fired across the face of goal while Anthony Knockaert curled a free-kick just off target.

Frenchman Knockaert claimed the assist when Bobby Zamora put the home side ahead in the 30th minute, the experienced striker given a simple finish by a well-weighted cross as Brighton countered after clearing a Town corner.

Town were treading a fine line as Brighton three times strayed offside when looking dangerous.

But the home fans were left stunned by an equaliser in first-half stoppage time, Harry Bunn heading home from a Smith cross.

Second half

Both teams made changed at the break, with Karim Matmour handed a Town debut in place of Huws and Andrew Crofts coming on for Brighton.

The visitors also introduced Manchester United loanee Wilson and Kazenga LuaLua in the opening stages of the second period as they sought an extra edge in attack.

Knockaert hit the outside of a post from a free-kick after being fouled by Joel Lynch, who was booked.

Knockaert claimed a second assist of he game when he crossed for Wilson to head Brighton back in front in the 67th minute.

Cranie and Smith were also yellow carded for Town as the home attackers probed troublesome.

The Smith walked after bringing down LuaLua as he broke powerfully on goal.

Town brought on Dean Whitehead and Phil Billing for Jason Davidson and Jamie Paterson, but even though centre-backs Hudson and Lynch were pushed up front, there was to be no rescue act.

Good Day

Harry Bunn headed his fourth goal of the season in first-half stoppage time to give Town some hope.

Bad Day

Tommy Smith was red carded as Town were reduced to 10 men for the second game running.
