TOWN scored twice late on as their superior fitness told to chalk a solid win at Nethermoor last night.
Despite solid resistance from Neil Parsley's UniBond Premier Division side, Town eventually broke the deadlock on 71 minutes when a determined surge from Nat Brown enabled him to finish from Lee Fowler's free-kick.
Fowler got the second himself, three minutes from time, with a delicate lob after substitute Akpo Sodje had flicked on a long clearance from keeper Phil Senior.
Biggest problem for Town in front of around 500 supporters was the rutted pitch, but there were still some decent touches from youngsters Joe Walsh and Michael Collins in midfield and an excellent performance from centre-back Brown.
Playing alongside big John McCombe and the unfortunate Aaron Hardy at the back - he was forced off on 56 minutes suffering an ankle injury - Brown caught the eye with some strong challenges and quick covering and keeper Phil Senior had little to do.
Guiseley, who included ex-Town players Jez Illingworth, Nathan Hay and Mark Stuart (loan) in their team, threatened only rarely after an early drive by Stuart was easily saved.
Stuart shot wide in the final minute of the first half when getting on the end of a quick break and then, five minutes into the second half, substitute David Cooke drove a dangerous low cross into the six-yard box which was cleared by McCombe.
Senior handled well from another cross before Brown made an excellent clearing header to prevent a late attack, but it was Town who enjoyed the more fluent play, despite the surface and overhitting a string of passes.
Brown had a diving header from Fowler's free-kick well saved as early as the fifth minute while John McAliskey, Pawel Abbott and Adnan Ahmed (with a crisp volley) all went within inches of scoring in the first half.
Collins and Sodje were also close in the second either side of Brown's goal, while Abbott's late chip drifted just wide of target.
Town - Senior, Ahmed, Lloyd, Hardy (Walls 56), McCombe, Brown, Fowler, Collins (Young 84), Abbott, Walsh, McAliskey (A Sodje 63).
