Today is the 20th anniversary of Huddersfield Town's play-off final triumph over Bristol Rovers . Watch action from Town's 2-1 win over their West Country opponents in the video above.

Town took the lead in first-half stoppage time, with Andy Booth benefiting from some clever play by Ronnie Jepson, who sent an overhead kick into the area for Darren Bullock and Pat Scully to nod on towards goal, and Booth sent his header back across Brian Parkin for the opener.

But they were ahead for just a matter of seconds, as Worrell Sterling's long throw caused havoc in the Town penalty area, and Marcus Stewart pounced from a Justin Channing flick-on to hook home.

Stewart missed several chances to hand Rovers the lead in the second period, with Town goalkeeper Steve Francis pulling off a smart reflex stop before seeing the striker bend an effort just wide of the far upright.

But it was Town who notched the all-important third goal of the contest as Iain Dunn's left-wing centre was headed back across goal by Booth for Chris Billy to stoop and score with a diving header to send Town fans into raptures.

There was almost one more dramatic twist as Stewart crashed an effort off the crossbar, with Rovers substitute Marcus Browning missing the follow-up before the final whistle blew as Town secured second-tier football for the first time in 7 years.
