THE old cliché, "it's a game of two halves," could be used accurately to describe the West Riding County Amateur League Division I Huddersfield derby clash.
Mid-table outfits Kirkburton and Marsden settled for a 2-2 draw with hosts Burton dominating the first half and Marsden the second.
Chris Parker (right) created an early chance for Burton but could only watch in disappointment as his header, from a Lee Bradley cross, struck a post rolled across the line, hit the other post, and came back out.
But he didn't miss two minutes later when Bradley took the ball off ex-Ashton player Dean Johnson in the area and squared it to Parker who fired Burton ahead.
Steve Chandler struck a free-kick well wide on 20 minutes before Parker shot over from three yards soon afterwards.
But Burton got a second goal from a brilliant piece of play by John Allison.
He beat the Marsden full-back for pace and put a great cross in, only for the keeper to drop it and Bradley poked home to give Kirkburton a 2-0 lead.
But the Colne Valley outfit hauled themselves back into the match before half time.
On 40 minutes they won a throw-in and the ball was launched into the area, Marsden's James Raynor rose and won the ball and his flick ended up in the back of the net.
Marsden then stamped their authority on the second half, moving the ball quicker and always looked like getting an equaliser.
But Burton held out until 75 minutes when Rayner broke through and drew goalkeeper Dave Walsh but his shot was cleared off the line by determined Rob Barnes until it fell back kindly to the striker, who cheekily back-heeled it in to the net.
