ADAM CLAYTON has set his sights on scoring at least 10 goals from central midfield for Town this season.

The 23-year-old capture from Leeds United is also confident he can help oil the supply lines to leading 40-goal marksman Jordan Rhodes in an exciting Championship campaign.

Clayton bagged six goals last term at Elland Road and is determined to try and double that tally under Simon Grayson following his £400,000 move across West Yorkshire.

Clayton – who knew none of his new teammates before the first day of pre-season training – explained: “I want to get over 10 goals, no doubt about it.

“That is something I am definitely looking to achieve, because I had a few by Christmas last season and then hit a bit of a wall – so I am definitely looking to score some more this time and hopefully push on past 10.”

Clayton says he thrives in an attacking central role, but can also play as the midfield anchor if required.

He’s particularly looking forward to supporting Rhodes, however, and added: “Everyone knows what a fantastic season Jordan had last time with 40 goals – so hopefully I can help him get 45!
