ALAN LEE notched a headed double as Town fought back from two down to claim a 2-2 draw in a behind-closed doors friendly against Premier League Stoke.

The Potters, keen for a game after being knocked out of the Capital One Cup, fielded a strong side including the likes of Maurice Edu, Jamie Ness, Dean Whitehead, Ryan Shotton, Matthew Upson, Rory Delap and Jermaine Pennant as well as former Town loanee Diego Arismendi.

Town’s starting side was Ian Bennett, Jordan Sinnott, Calum Woods, Tom Clarke, Murray Wallace, Sean Scannell, Scott Kay, Anton Robinson, Scott Arfield, Lee and James Spencer.

Keeper Lloyd Allinson replaced Bennett after 65 minutes.

Pennant fired the opener at Stoke’s Clayton Wood training ground direct from a 25-yard free-kick and Delap, better known for his long throws than scoring goals, skilfully slotted the second from an acute angle.

Delap’s fellow former Republic of Ireland international reduced the arrears just before the break, then equalised on the hour.
