AN INJURY to Josh Wright has compounded AFC Emley’s selection problems ahead of tomorrow night’s home Northern Counties East Division I meeting with Barton Town Old Boys (7.45).

Wright left the field on a stretcher after falling awkwardly just 20 minutes into Emley’s meeting with Rossington Main at the Welfare Ground – the game ending in a 1-1 draw.

He is added to a lengthening casualty list, though Emley welcomed back Duncan Bray from injury to lead the line in place of club skipper and top scorer Steven Kenworthy, who is not expected to feature again this season.

Rossington took an early lead with a bullet shot from Jonathan Mirfin, but Mick Amos scored an excellent individual goal to level the scores before half-time.

Rossington took the lead when Culshaw broke with the ball and his stinging shot could only be parried by Mick Clarke. The ball bounced to the edge of the area and Mirfin drove a shot from 30 yards that kissed the inside of the left hand upright and nestled in the corner.

From the restart Emley played the ball down the right flank. Bray collected the ball and raced in on goal but, with Marc Townsend screaming for a cross, Bray’s shot hit the side-netting.

The injury to Josh Wright on 20 minutes really knocked the wind out of the sails of the Emley players.

However, the home side got a foothold in the game on 40 minutes when a Max Joice throw-in found Amos on the edge of the box.

Amos raced through three defenders and his smart finish found the corner of the net.
