HUDDERSFIELD Irish Centre are through to the semi-finals of the Sunday Challenge Cup.

Regulars at this stage, this time they went through with a convincing 7-2 victory over KSL side Helion.

Pyke (2), Garside, Henighan, Ryan and two own goals made up the Irish tally while Clough and Hall replied for Helion.

Irish now face the winners of Woodfield Park and Pear Tree Mirfield (also from the KSL).

In Division I, Golcar Con recovered from their defeat by Huddersfield Irish Centre last week and got back on song with a 5-1 win over joint-bottom Escorpians.

On target for the winners were Connor Sykes (2), Tom McCreadie, Pierce Walker and Danny Stocker, while James Sykes replied for the losers.

This victory puts Con on top of the league although they have played one more than Rose and Crown, who were playing in the Armitage Leisure Supplementary Trophy.

In that knockout, Club Kirkheaton made extremely hard work of it against Lloyds OB and the 4-1 score possibly flattered them to some extent as at least two of their goals came from fortunate deflections in the six yard box.

Lloyds held them at bay for 50 minutes before Kirkheaton scored their first goal, although they did have one disallowed in the first half.

Daniel Bradley’s brace, Michael Henriques and man-of-the-match Delroy Campbell did the damage. Lloyds’ reply came from Jamie McBeth.

Marsh FC and Rose and Crown played out the first draw so far in this competition with a 2-2 result, but at least this time Marsh came away with something after their disappointing result last week against Club Kirkheaton.

Alex Trowell and Richard Dyson were on target for Marsh and Luke Haigh bagged both goals for Crown.
