STORTHES HALL put up a battling display at home to West Riding County Amateur League Premier Division leaders Albion Sports but were beaten 2-1 with the winner scored in injury time.

The visitors started strongly with Jamie Bairstow volleying into the side-netting, but the home side soon created an opening after 21 minutes as Jamie Miller flicked on John Sykes’ long ball to send Matt Mulvihill away down the right. His chip found Miller eight yards out and only a fine tackle by Andrew Atkinson prevented a free shot on goal.

Michael Tunnacliffe then shot over following a corner, but the home team had a let off after 37 minutes when Jordan Missin broke free but he lobbed over the bar with only keeper Sykes to beat.

On 42 minutes the visitors took the when Richard Bray was adjudged to have tripped Missin who then dispatched the spot kick.

Midway through the second period Hall equalised when Alex Slack’s through ball caught the Albion defence square and Matt Mulvihill raced away to score.

On 87 minutes Asif Hussain swung in a cross from the left and Simon Park thought he had scored as he rose to head in, but Lee Mozley managed to get his head to the ball and deflect it over the bar.

As the game entered injury time Albion grabbed a winner as Missin’s cross was stabbed over the line by Parke.

However, the contest was not over as Tunnacliffe’s free kick was met by Andy Haigh but he saw his effort hit the post.
