FORMER Emley manager Ian Banks returns to the Welfare Ground tomorrow (3.00) as he looks to plot a victory for his Eccleshill team.

The Northern Counties East League Division I clash is Banks’ first game at Emley since he parted company with the village club at the end of last season, writes Rob Dixon.

Eccleshill are currently eighth in the table, four points above 12th placed Emley, who claimed their latest point from a thrilling 3-3 draw against Appleby Frodingham.

However, manager Darren Hepworth will be hoping his side improve in front of goal after they failed to take a string of chances that should have seen his side out of sight early on.

After the initial Emley onslaught, it was the Lincolnshire side who opened the scoring on the half hour through Stephen McCarron.

Emley managed to get back on level terms before half-time when Anthony Leech delivered a cross for Dean Wharam to head home.

The visitors regained their lead five minutes into the second half as Thomas Spall netted, but the lead didn’t last long as Curtis Roberts was brought down on the edge of the penalty area and Brad Dowling drilled in the free-kick.

James Hare hit a rocket of a shot from the edge of the box to restore his side’s lead, but Emley finally got back on level terms and earned a point when Mark Stuart went round two defenders and crossed for Steven Kenworthy to head home his 20th goal of the season.

Bay Athletic beat Tingley Ath 5-1 in the West Riding County Amateur Premier Division.

Bay’s goals came from Tom Brown (2), Kitson Gayle, Paul Pyke and Freddie McGillvary.
