KIRKBURTON’S bid for Sheffield FA Challenge Cup glory ended with a 2-1 defeat by Hall Green United in the final at Doncaster Rovers’ Keepmoat Stadium.

Having led through Dan Ingham’s first-half goal and had chances to increase their lead, Burton lost out to the Wakefield side’s 86th-minute winner.

Meanwhile Storthes Hall were unable to do Huddersfield’s West Riding County Amateur League title-chasers Bay Athletic a favour.

The Hall were beaten 2-1 at home to Ovenden WR, who are now just three points behind leaders Bay, with each side having eight games still to go.

Golcar United are fourth after a 4-0 win at Brighouse Town with Meltham fifth after their 4-1 loss at Overthorpe.

Tomorrow it’s Bay v Hemsworth, Halifax Irish v Storthes Hall, Kirkburton v Campion, Lower Hopton v Golcar, Marsden v Hall Green and Meltham v Wibsey.
