SPORTING Club Shepley won the Get Smart Insurance Kirklees Sunday League Challenge Cup.

But despite recording a 5-2 win in the final at Emley, they didn’t have it all their own way against Pak Rangers.

The impressive Lance Hanson cancelled out Waqas Raza’s early goal for Shepley when he reacted fast to force home a loose ball.

Scott Sykes, with a close-range header then a flick from a free-kick, and Scott Fulton, put Shepley in a strong position at 4-1 up.

But Hanson pulled one back before the break with a fine volley – the goal of the game.

Then Pak’s stand-out performer Hanson was brought down for a penalty.

But Farooq Hussain was unable to take the chance to reduce the arrears to just one goal.

Relieved Shepley secured the win, and the silverware, with a header from a long throw in the 82nd minute.
