STORTHES Hall swept away the unbeaten home record of joint leaders Wibsey to score a smart 3-0 win in the West Riding CA Premier Division.

The Hall moved up to 10th with 23 points from the last 10 games.

Sticky conditions made it difficult for both teams and Hall keeper John Sykes made a fine save to deny Wibsey’s Mick Walton.

The Hall then carved out a good opening for Richard Lally who shot wide with the keeper to beat. Matt Mulvihill was proving a real handful for the Wibsey defence and when he got to the by line his driven cross was met by Miller but blocked by a defender.

The visitors went ahead on 51 minutes as Miller rose to meet Andy Haigh’s cross from the right. His header found Chris Mulvihill racing in on the left and he beat keeper Tom O’Hara with a low first timer.

Ten minutes later a long through ball by Richard Bray found Matt Mulvihill and, with the home defenders expecting an offside decision, he raced away and side footed the ball home.

With 10 minutes left, Garnett was unlucky to hit the bar for Wibsey.

But with five minutes left it was the visitors who scored again as Michael Tunnacliffe’s vicious inswinging free-kick caused chaos, Peter Jowett getting the finest of touches with his head to set the seal on a fine victory.
