Fans' verdicts on the news Huddersfield Town's abandoned final-day game at Blackpool will stand as a 0-0 draw are coming in thick and fast.

The Football League released a statement this afternoon informing of their decision to award a point to both teams after the Pool fans invaded the pitch in protest at owner Karl Oyston.

The three points which would have been given to Town with a victory would have secured a first finish above Leeds United since 1961/1962 and it has left Town fans angered with the ruling.

Scott Nixon on Twitter wrote: "Awful decision. What's to stop supporters doing the same now next season? Team needs a point to stay up, all on pitch at 0-0."

Tony Walsh went for a slightly more ironic slant by posting: "At least we get a point."

And JustPete on Twitter went along the same lines, adding: "Least we kept a clean sheet #htafc"

Richard Kosmala believes a dangerous precedent has now been set.

He wrote: "Need a point to get promoted or to stay up? Get your pitch invaded and game abandoned when you’re level with lots of time left. Job done!!"

Steve Blackburn was also not impressed with the decision, adding: "So us AND Blackpool have a point each? Absolute disgrace. If we're drawing and need a point all fans ON THE PITCH!!! #htafc"

But Jody Sykes adopted a slightly different stance, tweeting: "Who actually gives a damn whether we got 1 point or 3 when there was nothing to play for anyway? Seasons over, move on! #htafc"

While Adam Gearing expressed his disappointment with how the Football League dealt with the case by writing: "Dangerous to reward clubs with points after storming the field to abandon the game. FL yet again being spineless and hypocritical. #HTAFC"
