I’M hoping the lads can serve up at Easter treat and, obviously, a victory when Ipswich come to the John Smith’s Stadium this afternoon.

It’s a very quick turn around for Chris Powell and his squad following the battling 1-1 draw at my old club Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

I wasn’t able to go to the game at Hillsborough, but I’m told we deserved the reward we got after going behind on a testing surface.

To come from behind so late on with another goal from Ishmael Miller shows the character we’ve got in the side and, while the boss will be disppointed with the way we conceded in the first place, he will be equally pleased he got such a quick and positive response.

Ipswich are right on the very edge of the play-off places as they travel north, and they will be massively determined to go away with three points.

That means it’s another test for Chris and the lads, but we have shown all season that we can give all the top sides in the division a run for their money and, indeed, beat them.

One thing will be vital – the full backing of our home support in what I firmly believe will be a big holiday crowd.

Let’s show Ipswich what we are about both on and off the field and record our first home win since that very good performance against Reading.

The bookies, naturally, are making Ipswich favourites for today’s match, which is all the more reason for everyone to get right behind our team and cheer them on to three points.

As I’ve said before in this column, I am very positive about the run-in to this season and also about the prospects for next season at the club.

A lot of good work is being done here and the chairman and manager and very determined to build on that.
