Antony Kay is looking forward to locking horns with former club Huddersfield Town this season.

The versatile 32-year-old helped MK Dons win promotion to the Championship last term and has just signed a new one-year deal.

Defender or midfielder Kay, who has also played for hometown club Barnsley and Tranmere Rovers, left Town for MK three years ago.

He played 119 times for Town, scoring 12 goals, and has made 125 Dons appearances, notching four times.

Town host Karl Robinson’s MK on Tuesday, October 20, and visit them on Tuesday, February 23.

“It’s always good to play against your old clubs and it will be nice to go back to Huddersfield,” he said.

“Every game next season will be a big one, with the clubs that are in the league and some of the grounds we’ll be going to.

“The atmosphere will be greater too, especially here at stadium:mk.”

Kay continued: “I’ve played in the Championship for Barnsley when I was a younger.

“It’s a tough league with some big teams, but the style of football that we play will suit it, I think.

“I’m looking forward to it and I’m confident we can do well.

“Obviously we’ll want to make sure we stay in the league and if we play to our capabilities then I’m sure we’ll do that.

“We’ve got a good mix of experienced players who have played in the Championship before and younger players who will want to flourish at that level.”

Dons finished runners-up to Bristol City in League I to win a place in the second tier for the first time since relocation from Wimbledon in 2004.

Town last played them in the League I play-off semi-finals in 2012 (Kay didn’t feature for the West Yorkshire side).

Simon Grayson’s team won 3-2 on aggregate before beating Sheffield United on penalties at Wembley.
