Roberto Di Matteo wants more of the same from his Aston Villa side when they host Huddersfield Town on Tuesday.

Villa, relegated from the Premier League last season, were 3-0 home Championship winners over Rotherham United on Saturday while Town won 2-1 at Newcastle United.

It was their first victory since February.

And former Chelsea chief Di Matteo is desperate for a follow-up success.

“Huddersfield got a good result at Newcastle so obviously they are a difficult team to play against,” he said.

“We want to try and win our home games and then away try to nick a few points.

“We need to make Villa Park a place where opponents find it hard to play at.

“Winning on Saturday will help. We needed to find that spark.”

Di Matteo, who is being linked with midfielders Mile Jedinak (Crystal Palace) and Amadou Diawara (Bologna) will check on the fitness of centre-back Nathan Baker, who missed the Rotherham game through concussion.

Town have experienced Dean Whitehead available after a three-game ban.

His fellow midfielder Philip Billing (ankle) and forward Harry Bunn (hamstring) are back in training after injuries.

But the Villa trip will probably come to soon for them to be considered.
