1. Crowds are a cause for concern

In his programme notes, chairman Dean Hoyle said: “I hope fans come in great numbers to create a top atmosphere and get behind the players.”

But the official gate, including all season-ticket holders, whether they were there or not, was 11,338 and there were 1,125 Blackburn Rovers fans present.

It’s the third season running the attendance for the first Huddersfield Town home league game has fallen.

Back in 2012, after Town’s return to the Championship, there was a 15,434 gate for the visit of Nottingham Forest, and that was a midweek match.

2. When will Blackburn cease being a bogey team?

Having grabbed five goals in his three previous return visits to the John Smith’s Stadium, old boy Jordan Rhodes might not have netted.

But Town’s winless run in games against Rovers is now 11 in all competitions.

And there has been just one victory in the last 17 clashes, 4-3 at home in 1999-2000.

3. Nahki Wells is as good as his word

The striker said he had worked hard over the close-season to strengthen up and maximise his fitness levels.

He completed his third 90-minute outing of the fledgeling campaign against Blackburn, and was still going strong at the end.

Last season’s top scorer also walloped in his first goal of the new term.

He needs 19 more to reach his first target for 2015-16.

4. Sean Scannell is not yet firing on all cylinders

It was great to see the wideman back after his hamstring injury.

But the former Crystal Palace man admitted he isn’t quite 100% yet.

The crowd pleaser showed flashes of his skill in this game, and claimed an assist.

Hopefully he’ll be able to step things up against Brighton and Hove Albion.

5. Can more can be made of corners?

Town have options when it comes to flag kicks as well as free-kicks.

Where once Jacob Butterfield delivered corners from both sides, Jason Davidson and Harry Bunn have both taken some this season.

Murray Wallace headed home from a Bunn flag kick against Notts County.

And skipper Mark Hudson had an effort from a corner blocked on the line against Rovers.
