THE last week of April has arrived and several divisions have still not been settled.

After going through March without a game being postponed by the weather, April has been the complete opposite and this is the reason for the delay.

A further delay has also been the not unexpected decision of Kirklees to call off all matches on their fields today.

The first division title was one that was settled last Saturday. Hepworth beat probable relegation team Slaithwaite 7-0.

Hepworth United thereby become the first team to win successive Division One titles since Meltham Athletic did it in 2005.

At the bottom, Slaithwaite could be joining Britannia Sports in Division Two next season.

A 1-1 draw on Tuesday night against Shepley leaves them two points behind Holmbridge. Slaithwaite play Netherton today while Holmbridge have fixtures against Shepley and Diggle.

In Division Two, Scholes protest was upheld and they gained the points they lost at Skelmanthorpe.

However, they may be favourites to win the title, but they are not sure yet of promotion.

At present, Scholes have 45 points with two to play while Royal Dolphins are one point behind with one to play. Kirkheaton, currently fifth, are still in with a chance. They are eight points behind the Dolphins but they have four to play.

To summarise the situation, Scholes need to collect four points to guarantee top spot, whereas Dolphins could win up but still be caught by Kirkheaton.

The May 3 fixture Scholes v Kirkheaton could decide both the top and second in one game.

In Division Four, Moldgreen Con and Dewsbury Town OB have secured promotion.

Both have two to play, but in fact they have both just one to play.

The outcome of their abandoned fixture has yet to be decided but, in any case, Moldgreen Con need only one point to win the division.

Last Saturday, Royal Dolphins Reserves gained the points they needed to clinch Reserve Division Four and they are still in with a chance of a double as they play in the final of the Gee Cup against Holmbridge Reserves.

The two outstanding titles in the Reserve section are in Reserve Divisions One and Three and, in both divisions, it’s neck and neck between two teams.

In Reserve Division One, Newsome lead Uppermill by just one point but both have four to play. The May 8 fixture between the two could turn out to be almost a ‘cup final’.

In Reserve Division Three, another Uppermill team, their B team, are going head-to-head with Meltham Athletic A. They are both on 54 points and both have two to play.
