A Batley woman will fulfil every football fan’s dream by gracing the hallowed turf of Wembley this weekend – as a manager!

Cheryl Srimok will take part in a special match in the build-up to the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Final between Barnsley and Oxford United.

She works for Johnstone’s Paint’s parent company PPG Architectural Coatings and was selected in a random draw for employees to take part in a special Johnstone’s Sixes match less than 90 minutes before the main event at Wembley on Sunday.

The players and managers were split into two teams for the right to be crowned Johnstone’s Sixes winners - Covaplus County and Stormshield Rangers, reflecting Johnstone’s biggest selling product and one of its most popular ranges respectively.

Cheryl, who works in the commercial department at the company’s base in Batley, was selected to manage Covaplus County.

The 39-year-old said: “I’ve been to Wembley previously and have always been amazed at the atmosphere and the size of the stadium, so to be on the touchline will be a fantastic experience.

“My husband is a huge football fan so I couldn’t wait to call him and tell him I’d won the competition – I think he’s secretly jealous.

“I’m really looking forward to the day. Some managers are on the side shouting at the players but I think I’ll be the sort of manager that keeps their cool.”

Johnstone’s Paint, long established as a premium brand, have been bringing colour to the beautiful game by sponsoring the Football League Trophy for the last 10 seasons.
