Scorer Harry Bunn felt Town had the better chances to win the derby against Leeds.

The 22-year-old bagged his seventh goal of the season to put Town level after Sam Byram had opened the scoring for the visitors in front of a 20,029 crowd.

But, like the rest of his colleagues, he was heartbroken to lose to Billy Sharp’s last-gasp strike and to see teammate Tommy Smith knocked out and later airlifted to hospital.

“We are obviously disappointed with the result and all keeping our fingers crossed that Tommy is going to come through okay and be fine,” said Bunn, who replaced the injured Nahki Wells in only the ninth minute.

“When I went on we had just conceded, so obviously it was tough going, but when we got the goal back I thought we looked the better side at the time and created a few more chances than Leeds.

“Credit to them because they stuck at it and nicked it at the end, but it was disappointing for us because I thought we were the better team and were pushing on to get the three points.”

Bunn says Town won’t dwell on the defeat as they prepare to go to Millwall on Saturday.

Boss Chris Powell will check on the injuries to Wells, Joel Lynch and Smith and also on the fitness of keeper Alex Smithies, who was ill and had to be replaced by Joe Murphy, even though the back-up wasn’t quite 100% fit.

“We are disappointed with the result but we have to put it to the back of our minds and move on to next week when, hopefully, we’ll get a better result,” added Bunn.

On his role against Leeds, Bunn explained: “When we had the ball the gaffer wanted me to play up with Vaughany (James Vaughan) and, when we didn’t have the ball, I had to track back more, particularly on the left hand side, which I thought I did okay.

“Maybe I felt a bit tired towards the end, but I was quite pleased with my performance.”
