NEW signing Chris Brandon believes he will produce his best football yet for Town.

The 28-year-old (pictured, with Andy Holdsworth)  was a late starter in the professional ranks, working in a clothes shop while playing part-time for Bradford Park Avenue when Torquay United gave him his big break in 1999.

Three years at Plainmoor were followed by two at Chesterfield, and the midfielder, who has signed a two-year deal, reckons he is now reaching his peak.

"Having got to the end of my contract at Chesterfield this summer, it was a very important decision for me as to what to do next," explained the Bradford-born player.

"I had a few options, one of them to stay at Chesterfield.

"I enjoyed my time both there and at Torquay, and they are both good clubs.

"But Huddersfield are a massive club, and I felt it was time for a new challenge."

Brandon, who knows both Rob Edwards and Town coach Martyn Booty from their time at Chesterfield, met his new teammates at yesterday's opening pre-season session.

"You can tell there is a great rapport between the players and I want to be a part of it," said Brandon, who is currently looking for a new house with girlfriend Melissa.

"Moving to Huddersfield means I can be nearer to family and friends, and the set up at the McAlpine is superb.

"It's an exciting move for me and I can't wait to get going.

"I was a late starter in the professional game, and while it might have taken me a little while to get up to the pace with lads who have been playing full-time since their teens, I reckon I'm there now and just reaching my peak.

"I think I've got a few good years left in me yet and my aim is to make sure Huddersfield fans see the best of me.

"There is momentum here after promotion last season, and I want to help Town get back where they belong."

The Coca-Cola League I fixture schedule brings games against both his former clubs as well as Bradford City, who he followed as a child, and Brandon added: "There's no shortage of interesting games, so let's get going!"
