TOWN are set for a bumper pay day at Champions League hopefuls Chelsea - whether or not the tie is live on television.
The Galpharm Stadium club collected £75,000 through the presence of the BBC at yesterday's Worcester City clash.
They also receive a £24,000 cheque for winning the match to go with the £16,000 bonus for beating Welling in round one (the prize for a shock win at Chelsea next month would be £40,000).
While the actual attendances so far have been small (5,518 against Welling and 4,163 at Worcester), the turn-out at Stamford Bridge, the scene of Town's FA Cup final win over Preston in 1922, could top 40,000.
The turn-out for Chelsea's home clash with Scunthorpe at the corresponding stage last season was 40,019.
After deductions, each club receives 42% of the receipts for FA Cup clashes.
"It's a little early to say what we might make financially, but it's clearly a great draw," said Town chief executive Andrew Watson.
"It's a superb reward for the players and the staff, but most of all, for the fans who have stuck with this club during some difficult times in recent years."
