IT’S Junior Day at Brighouse Town on Saturday, with games kicking off around 1pm before the main match against Armthorpe.

After the huge success and bumper crowd on the last Junior day, Brighouse Town have invited teams from the local area and beyond to compete in a round robin competition, the winners will be presented with a trophy by club captain Nick Jagger.

Players from Batteyford and Overthorpe will walk both Brighouse Town and Armthorpe out before the game, with Brighouse Juniors taking up ball boy duties.

A penalty shoot out at half time on the pitch will also take place between the teams, and all should make for a brilliant day and a great experience for all the players and officials.

Unique Print Solutions have designed and printed certificates to be presented to the junior players.

Brighouse Junior Terriers and Tigers make their second appearance at Town’s Junior Day.

The Under 9s are coached by Neil Taylor, Carl Heavyside and Steve Whitworth and backed by sponsor thegoldshop.net.

Brighouse Tigers looked hungry as they powered to a 4-0 win at Howden Clough Under 9 B.

It was the Tigers second game in as many days yet Samuel Brearley, Kian Collins and Ethan Wroot were in outstanding form and linked up superbly.

Joe Delahunty, James Metcalf and Harvey Fuller provided great support but Jack Taylor had to be in top form to prevent the determined Howden team from scoring.

It was Brearley who took the game by the scruff on the neck, scoring his first ever hat trick – a long-range drive, an inswinging shot resulting from a short corner and an easy tap-in.

Collins was rewarded for his hard work with a well-deserved goal.

Brighouse Junior Terriers lost 3-1 at Rothwell Reds, the unbeaten league leaders.

The Terriers’ defence of Samuel Brearley, Joshua Harrison and man of the match Ethan Roberts stood firm in the first half in front of keeper Jack Taylor.

Luca Willans’ quick feet and superb vision also caused problems for the Reds’ defence.

Joshua Heavyside was unlucky not to open the scoring after he broke on the counter, while Jack Green and Joshua Woods created several chances for Brighouse, only to be denied by some great saves.

At 0-0 the game was set up for an exciting second half and Heavyside put the Terriers in the lead.

Rothwell equalised with a penalty and then got two goals in the last five minutes.

Brighouse Tigers drew 1-1 with Rothwell Whites, with Ethan Wroot scoring a late cracker to salvage a deserved point.

Defences dominated in the first half with Liam Glakin and Joe Delahunty protecting Bradley Atkinson in the Tigers goal.

Brighouse dominated the second half with the energy from Jacob Peyton, Joe Whitworth and Joshua Lumb driving them forward, but resolute defence kept them out and then, against the run of play, Rothwell took the lead.

The Tigers didn’t let their heads drop, even missing a late penalty and Taylor going close before Wroot grabbed the equaliser.

Elliot Paige-Hirst was Brighouse’s man of the match.

Howden Clough A beat Brighouse Terriers 4-1 in a friendly.

Brighouse were quickly two down and, despite some fine saves from Bradley Atkinson, it was 4-0 at the break.

Heavyside scored for Brighouse in an improved second-half show.
