BRIGHOUSE Town kept their Baris Northern Counties East League title bid firmly on track with a thumping 8-1 home win over Lincoln Moorlands Railway.

Danny Naidole and Tom Mathews both struck twice in a game which was effectively over by half-time – but only after the visitors had stirred Town into action with a 13th-minute goal.

Ernest Boafo, who put Brighouse ahead against the run of play after six minutes, Leon Henry, Adam Wilson and Craig Thompson, back after a knee injury, also got on the scoresheet for Paul Quinn’s side, who notched their biggest win of the season.

Brighouse, for whom Mathews has netted 37 times this season, remain a point ahead of Scarborough Athletic, who were 4-2 winners at Parkgate, where Ryan Blott notched his 35th goal.

Scarborough, formed in 2007 after the demise of the former Football League club, have a game in hand, at home to Barton Town Old Boys on April 2, but the top two have yet to meet at Brighouse’s Dual Seal Stadium on April 13.

Bridlington Town, in third and 4-1 home winners over Hall Road Rangers, are also still in the mix at the summit. They are eight points off Brighouse with two games in hand.

Next up for Quinn’s side, who have six games remaining, is a trip to Maltby Main on Saturday, when Scarborough host Tadcaster Albion.
