Brighouse Town bowed out of the FA Cup – but won plenty of admirers after a brave display at Stockport County.

Both sets of fans in 1,704 crowd at Edgeley Park applauded Brighouse off the pitch after their 1-0 defeat by the Skrill Conference North side in the second round qualifying.

Kyle Jacobs settled the tie with a 66th-minute strike, ending the hopes of the 250 Brighouse fans present at the former Football League venue.

At least Brighouse, who were the only Northern Counties East League club left in the competition, will receive a financial boost from their share of the gate receipts.

Brighton Mugadza scored a hat trick as AFC Emley went fifth in the NCEL First Division with a 7-2 win over Grimsby Borough.

It was the first game at the Welfare Ground since the reinstatement of manager Darren Hepworth, and his team produced a powerful display.

Adam Todd scored twice while Liam Schofield and skipper Paul Sykes, with a penalty, got the other goals.
