Chris Powell says composure is the key to success for Huddersfield Town in their big derby at Leeds United.

A 25,000-plus crowd is expected at Elland Road, where Town suffered a 5-1 Championship defeat last season.

“The atmosphere will be heightened because it’s a derby,” said the Town manager, who is seeking his first win at the third attempt.

“We are going there with a gameplan to get three points, but we have to stick to it.

“There will inevitably be times when we come under pressure, but we have to keep doing the right things.

“Our game management needs to be good.”

Powell is optimistic centre-back Joel Lynch will be fit after picking up a thigh injury during Tuesday’s 0-0 home draw with Wigan Athletic.

That would allow him to resume his central defensive partnership with recent arrival Mark Hudson.

“I’m pleased with the way Mark is playing and he and Joel both provide us with experience,” added Powell.

“Alex Smithies is making some great saves, and the clean sheet the other night was a step forward for us.”

Leeds go into the game on the back of come-from-behind 3-1 win at Bournemouth.
