The short answer

The Capital One Cup first-round draw will be made at 10am on Tuesday, June 16.

What happens next?

The 36 seeded teams, of which Huddersfield Town are one, are drawn against the non-seeded teams.

The seeding system is based on final league placing in 2014/15, with Town the 16th seed having finished in that position in the Championship.

That means they can be drawn against the bottom 12 League One sides and any of the 24 teams from the fourth tier.

The first round is also regionalised, which means Town will come up against a fellow team from the North or the Midlands.

Who did Huddersfield Town face in the first round in 2014/15?

Town kicked off their Capital One Cup campaign with a thrilling 5-3 extra-time win over Chesterfield at the Proact Stadium.

The Terriers, who were managed by interim boss Mark Lillis, went 2-0 down before half-time and although Nahki Wells pulled one back, an Eoin Doyle strike put the home side 3-1 up with 20 minutes left.

But Town stormed back, forcing extra-time thanks to goals from Wells and Jonathan Stead before the latter completed his hat-trick and Joe Lolley got in on the act with a fifth in the additional 30 minutes.

Sadly, Town lost 2-0 at home to Nottingham Forest in the second round as James Vaughan's own-goal and a Henri Lansbury strike did the damage.

So when does the first round take place?

The first round of the 2015/16 Capital One Cup will be played across Tuesday, August 11 and Wednesday, August 12.

Last season's fixtures fell on the 12th and 13th, with Town's win at Chesterfield coming on the Tuesday.

As Town found out last year, extra-time and then penalties will be required if a winner cannot be found after 90 minutes.
