PETER JACKSON believes tough defender Martin McIntosh can weigh in up front to help power Town to promotion.

The 34-year-old Scot scored his second goal in as many games to spark Town's spirited comeback at Swansea - and Jackson reckons there are more to come.

"I'm delighted with all aspects of Tosh's play at the moment," said the manager, who signed him from Rotherham in the summer.

The former Tottenham trainee, who has also played for St Mirren, Clydebank, Hamilton, Stockport and Hibernian, missed four months of the season because of a knee injury but has started 11 of the last 12 matches.

He netted his first Town goal in the 2-2 draw at Scunthorpe last month, and was on target in the 5-0 home destruction of MK Dons.

One more would take his career tally to 50 - but his boss believes he can take his current season's tally to at least half a dozen.

"That's what I challenged him to do when he returned to the frame, and he's well on the way," said former centre-back Jackson.

"Going up front at set-pieces is a big part of the job, and he showed the kind of danger he can pose by scoring at Swansea.

"That goal changed the whole complexion of the game, their fans started to get edgy, and once Tosh had struck, I knew the equaliser would come.

"If the game had lasted 10 minutes longer, I think we'd have won it, but we'll have to be satisfied with the point.

"Tosh, who is getting better with each game, played a big part."

Jackson will tonight head to Belle Vue to watch Saturday's visitors Doncaster host Brentford.

If Brentford and Barnsley, who go to Bournemouth, both win, Town will drop from second to fourth.

Town Reserves host Rotherham tomorrow (2.00).

Team: Rachubka, Walls, Adams, McCombe, Hardy, Young, St Juste, Ahmed, Hudson, McAliskey, Abbott. Subs: To be announced.
