Huddersfield Town Under 21s clinched the Professional Development League II title without playing.

A 2-0 defeat for Sheffield United at Crystal Palace means Frankie Bunn’s leaders can’t be caught.

Town, preparing for the play-offs for the fourth season running, face Cardiff City at the John Smith’s Stadium on Monday (1.00).

They have two further fixtures before the play-offs, at Birmingham City next Thursday and Coventry City on Monday, April 25.

Meanwhile it’s a tale of two Cities as Town Juniors also eye a PDL II play-off spot for the fourth year in a row.

As with the Under 21s, two sides from each section, North and South, will go into the semi-finals.

With one game each to play on Saturday, Town and Sheffield United are on 56 points as they bid to finish runners-up to North champions Nottingham Forest.

The Blades, who host Hull City, have a goal difference of 23 as opposed to 21 for Town, who are at home to Coventry City (11.30).

Fourth-placed Crewe Alexandra also have 56 points, but their goal difference is 18 and they have played all 30 regular-season games.

Tony Carss’ Town side, play-off winners in 2014 but beaten by Brentford in the semi-finals last season, have won four on the trot.
