The 59-year-old, currently appealing against a Football League banning order, has faced increasing protests of his ownership of the club.

He told the Yorkshire Post : “For the moment I have to say I took this club after 12 years of problems and I tried to fix everything.

"But you cannot repair something that has been decaying also during 12 years, that has been a little bit damaged."

Vaughan has been ruled out for the next few weeks while Nicolai Brock-Madsen is also absent.

Said Rowett: “I’d possibly consider bringing another striker in.

“I’ll be honest though, at this stage of the season after bringing players in on loan and the effect of that, I probably wouldn’t choose to bring anyone else in on loan at the minute.

“But, of course, we could end up going into tomorrow night’s game with no striker on the bench. Obviously we don’t want that either.

“It’ll either be that we will promote someone from within if you like, or we use someone differently in that position if we need to."

Saturday's opponents Derby County are the most popular team on the box.

Sky Sports subscribers have watched the Rams more than any other Championship side in 82 of the UK's 119 regions according to new figures.

Matt Roberts, Sky Sports' Head of Sports and News Research, said: "The majority of Championship fans tuning in to watch Championship games live on Sky were from the older generation, and Derby have figured in England's top two tiers since 1992-93 and were prominent in the old First Division throughout the 1970s.

"However, what was surprising was the Rams' overwhelming majority of support across the UK. Many people expected Leeds, in particular, to win a considerably higher number of regions."

Nottingham Forest could be in the Championship within two or three years according to former Liverpool star Dietmar Hamann.

Hamann told talkSPORT: "Look at Leicester. They were doomed 12 years ago," Hamann told talkSport.

"Sheffield Wednesday, Nottingham Forest and Leeds United could all be in the Champions League in two or three years' time - where would it leave them?"

A reported target for Town in January, Rajiv van La Parra has been the target of the Wolves boo-boys in recent weeks.

Comments made on social media, as well as inconsistent performances and a disagreement with manager Kenny Jackett while on loan at Brighton, have seen his stock fall with those in the stands.

The Express and Star reports: "With Henry possibly returning to the squad for Friday’s trip to Middlesbrough, and Jackett speaking highly of young winger Connor Hunte’s improvement in recent months, Van La Parra looks to have a job to even win a place on the bench.

"But if and when he gets his chance again, he will be judged on his attitude more than anything else."

The former QPR boss says they are one of three teams, alongside Hull and Burnley, most likely to secure automatic promotion, but he is uneasy due to recent struggles and last year's play-off disappointment.

“I think the top two will come from Burnley, Hull and Middlesbrough,” Redknapp said.

"I worry about Middlesbrough. They were disappointing last year in the (play-off) final and I’ve looked at them once or twice when you think they were going to push on (but they haven’t).

"But they’re still right there and Jordan Rhodes will be an excellent signing. He will go a run of scoring goals."
