Huddersfield Town’s Championship rivals Leeds United are trying to sign Swansea City centre-back Kyle Bartley on loan.

Manager Gary Monk has turned to his former club for a transfer which would bring Bartley to Elland Road on a season-long deal.

The defender worked under Monk while United’s boss was manager of the Premier League club and he played in the Championship during previous spells on loan at Birmingham City and Sheffield United.

Recently released Sunderland defender Wes Brown is training at Blackburn Rovers, according to reports.

Brown, who is most famous for a long and distinguished spell at boyhood club Manchester United, rarely featured under Black Cats boss Sam Allardyce last season, and was not offered a new contract when his previous deal expired.

The Sky report says he will now be hoping to earn a contract at Ewood Park.

The 36-year-old was once a mainstay of the England squad, winning 23 caps over an 11-year period running all the way into the previous century.

The news comes as Celtic are said to be looking sign Blackburn Rovers centre-half Shane Duffy.

The 24-year-old Impressed for the Republic of Ireland against Italy but was sent off in his country’s Euro 2016 last 16 defeat by France on Sunday.

Millwall have slapped a £2m price tag on Celtic target Lee Gregory.

The 27-year-old striker netted 26 goals in 53 appearances last season.

Meanwhile, former Dundee United star Ryan Gauld could be on his way back to the United Kingdom.

The Scotland Under 21 international, once a reported target for Town, who left Tannadice to join Sporting Lisbon two years ago, is being linked with a loan move to Sheffield Wednesday.

Gauld (20) was included in Sporting’s first-team squad for next season, but the Portuguese side may still decide to farm him out for a year.

Northern Ireland goalkeeper Michael McGovern, 31, is looking to join a new club this week after his Hamilton Accies contract expired.
