Swansea City are set to beat Celtic to the signature of Blackburn Rovers defender Shane Duffy.

Duffy caught the eye as part of the Republic of Ireland squad at Euro 2016, and it has been widely reported that Brendan Rodgers was keen to add the 24-year-old to his squad at Parkhead.

But latest rumours suggest Francesco Guidolin is ready to do a deal and the Swans are now favourite to land him.

The Rovers man has also been linked with Crystal Palace and West Bromwich Albion.

Leeds United are pursuing other targets after ending their interest in former Watford defender Joel Ekstrand.

That's according to the Yorkshire Evening Post , which reports that the club had doubts about Ekstrand's injury history.

The Swede was released by the Hornets last month. Leeds are also targeting midfield after losing Lewis Cook to Bournemouth.

Newcastle United are not willing to lose Moussa Sissoko on the cheap and have reportedly slapped a £35m price tag on the French midfielder.

The Magpies are keen to hold onto Sissoko, who received rave reviews for his performance in the Euro 2016 final.

And the Chronicle claim it would take a £35m bid - which would equal the record fee the club received from Liverpool for Andy Carroll - for Newcastle to part with him.

Sissoko has made no secret of his desire to leave St James' Park but has three years left on his contract.

Norwich City are said to be readying a £7m bid for Nottingham Forest striker Britt Assombalonga.

That's according to the Sun , which claims that the Canaries are not concerned by the fact Assombalonga is yet to reach the best form he enjoyed before a knee injury that ruled him out for 13 months.

The Carrow Road club are desperate for more striking power to fire them back to the Premier League and had been linked with both Dwight Gayle and Steven Fletcher.

Meanwhile Nottingham Forest have been linked with Brighton youngster Jake Forster-Caskey.

The 21-year-old is not in the long term plans at the Amex Stadium, and both Forest and Sheffield United have been rumoured to be intersted.

But The Argus suggests Rotherham are in pole position to secure his signature.

Fulham have bid for Derby County midfielder Jeff Hendrick.

The Craven Cottage outfit are the latest to show interest in Hendrick but look to face stiff competition - Premier League duo Middlesbrough and Burnley are also said to be keen.
