WITH seven regular first-team players out due to injury and unavailability, Town Ladies were beaten 4-0 at home by leaders Chorley.

Chorley took the lead in the first minute when a speculative shot bounced awkwardly past Charlotte Oates.

They hit the post and then scored with successive headed goals from corners.

The second half started more brightly for Town and they had much more possession and showed more desire than in the first half, although the only shot of note was a direct free kick from Kate Mallin.

On 53 minutes Chorley had a goal disallowed following a foul to Oates, but in the final five minutes they scored another headed goal from a corner.

Defender Sharone Buckle was voted player of the match for Town, who play at Warrenside on Sunday against Cheadle Heath (2pm).

The Reserves next games are home and away to Nostell MW – today at Grange Moor (6.30) and away on Sunday (2pm).

The Under 18s, meanwhile, drew 2-2 at home with Sheffield Wednesday.

Town took the lead on 24 minutes when Abby Sanderson, Nicole Pachniuk, Georgia Hamilton and Mel Sutcliffe combined to put in Alice Linsell to score from 18 yards.

Sheffield equalised on 30 minutes and took the lead on 57.

Town battled to find the equaliser and they did so with 10 minutes remaining when Linsell fired home from an acute angle.

Mel Sutcliffe was awarded the player of the match award.

The Under 18s take on Handsworth at Grange Moor today (6.30) and are at home to Sheffield United Community Ladies on Saturday (10.30).

Town Under 15s won 2-1 at AFC Pogmoor, with top scorer and player of the match Katie Lockwood giving them the lead on 30 minutes with a wonder long-range strike. Pogmoor quickly equalised and then it looked like the match would be drawn until Jess Holland came up with the winner.

The Under 15s then rounded off their season with a 2-1 home defeat to Doncaster Belles.

Town were limited to half chances and had to rely on Laura Niemantis, Niamh O’Dea, Emily Morris, Bethany Halligan and Emilia Samuels to keep Doncaster at bay, but they went behind just before half time.

Belles went two up on the hour and it wasn’t until stoppage time that Lockwood scored with a brilliant 25-yard lob.

Manager Laura Carter thanked players and parents for a great season.

The Under 13s beat Crosspool Juniors 5-0 to maintain their unbeaten record.

Amy Broomhead, Laura Walker and Kacey Buckley scored in the first half. Olivia Bennett, back after six weeks injured, added the fourth and Claudia Smith-Calvert rounded off the scoring.

The Under 13s then had a 4-4 draw at Millmoor, battling back from 3-0 down at half time.

Broomhead got Town moving before Ella Harris netted and then Faye Allen levelled things up.

Broomhead then put Town ahead, but Millmoor responded to equalised just before time.

After that, Town scored a 4-0 home win over Handsworth.

Laura Walker put Town ahead and then quickly grabbed her second. Claudia Smith-Calvert made it 3-0 on 21 minutes.

Town scored their fourth with 17 minutes left when Ella Harris bundled the ball home.

The last game of the season is at home to Millmoor on Saturday (10.30), when Town need to avoid defeat to take the title.
