Chris Powell says he’s comfortable with transfer speculation over Huddersfield Town strikers Nahki Wells and James Vaughan.

The pair are at the hub of the manager’s preparations for the new Championship campaign.

And he reckons there is more to come from both – as well as their fellow frontman Ishmael Miller.

There’s talk of Town adding another striker to their squad, but that doesn’t mean either club-record £1.3m man Wells or Vaughan are heading through the exit door.

“There will always be speculation over good players,” said Powell, who is happy to have activated the club’s extension option on Miller.

“Nahki was our top scorer last season (with 14 goals), and James is going into the last year of his contract, which seems to be enough to create rumours these days.

“There are very few clubs around who can afford to turn down top offers for players.

“But we don’t need to sell to survive, I want to keep all our current players, and I am planning on having them.

“And I think there is more to come from all my players.

“I’m confident Nahki can develop further after his first full season at Championship level.

“I’m looking for him to score more goals and win us more matches.

“We managed to keep Vaughany fit for a good spell last season, and he got some vital goals, and we need that to continue.”

James Vaughan looks to have finally put his injury problems behind him at Huddersfield Town

Powell brought Miller in from Blackpool during the January transfer window.

“We took up the option on his contract and I’m very happy with him,” said the boss.

“There is a lot more to come from him. I think he can be a real good player for us next season.”
