Huddersfield Town boss Chris Powell has called on his side to match, or better, their haul of seven points from the last three games when they return to action after the latest international break.

Powell’s side followed up wins over Millwall and Wolves with a battling goalless draw at Blackburn Rovers, where former favourite Jordan Rhodes missed a penalty for the home team.

Town, who remained 18th in the Championship, now have a blank weekend, with England playing Euro 2016 qualifiers against San Marino on Thursday and Estonia on Sunday.

They host Blackpool a week on Saturday and Brighton the following Tuesday (October 21) before heading to Ipswich Town on Saturday, October 25.

“There were a lot of positives to take from Blackburn,” said Powell. “It was a performance full of commitment and resilience and a clean sheet.

“That meant we were guaranteed a point, and we had chances near the end to nick all three, but I have to be satisfied with seven points from nine.

“I think we are in our way, but we have to keep that momentum going, and I have to make sure the players stay focused for the next fortnight.

“We have a chance to take stock and recuperate, then it’s another three games in a week like we have just had, and we have to look for a similar points return, if not more.”

Powell was forced to omit midfielder Jonathan Hogg against Blackburn because of a groin problem, but skipper Lee Peltier beat a calf injury to feature as a substitute.

“I hope that by the time Blackpool come here, Hoggy is fit again and I have a selection headache,” added Powell.

Town’s Under 21 side take on Mansfield Town in a Final Third Development League Cup tie at PPG Canalside today (1.00).

It’s the first of four group games, with matches against Doncaster Rovers, Rotherham United and Derby County to come.

Town also host Barnsley in the separate Under 21 Premier League Cup on Wednesday (1.00) and go to Brentford for a Professional Development League game on Saturday (3.00).
