Emyr Huws insists first-team coach Steve Eyre should take the credit for his goal which proved the catalyst to Huddersfield Town’s first home win of the season against Bolton Wanderers.

The on-loan Wigan Athletic midfielder drilled home a shot when fellow former Manchester City player Harry Bunn played a corner to him in first-half stoppage time.

It tied the Championship match at 1-1 after Bolton’s early opener, and Town went on to take control with three further goals, including another from Huws, in the second half.

Huws, who also scored in Town’s 2-1 win at Charlton Athletic, said: “We worked on that move in training on Friday so credit to Steve Eyre, because he put it together.

“Obviously it’s worked and got us back in the game. It was big for us and we needed it because we didn’t get off to the best start.”

Wales international Huws’ only previous goals both came during a loan spell at Birmingham City when he was at Manchester City.

Huws is now hoping to stay on the scoresheet when Nottingham Forest visit in tomorrow night’s Sky Televised Championship clash at the John Smith’s Stadium.

“I’m working hard to try and add more goals to my game,” confirmed Huws, who had ankle surgery in February and hasn’t played a full 90 minutes since.

“That work seems to be paying off, although I’m working to improve my fitness as well and I’m thankful to the manager, Chris Powell, for showing faith in me by bringing me in when I wasn’t fully fit and giving me the chance.”
