Cardiff City striker Nicky Maynard could be used as a makeweight in any potential deal that sees Lee Peltier leave Huddersfield Town for the Bluebirds.

Russell Slade has admitted his interest in Peltier after revealing the versatile Town defender is "on the radar" of Cardiff and suggested a move for the former Liverpool, Leicester City and Leeds United defender is possible.

And now sources in South Wales have indicated a swap deal could be on the cards which would see 28-year-old frontman Maynard head in the other direction after being frozen out at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Maynard has made just four substitute appearances since Slade's arrival at the club and is desperate for first-team football , something Town would be able to offer in the wake of James Vaughan's latest injury setback .

Right-back Peltier has two-and-a-half years remaining on the deal he signed in the summer after returning from Leeds and could be reunited with Slade having played under him at Yeovil Town.

The 28-year-old has made 12 appearances for the Terriers in 2014/2015.
