Football fans across the country dream they might one day get a team that can go and beat the best around.

Well the dream is becoming reality for Leicester City supporters, who must be pinching themselves at the moment as their team sit two points clear in the Premier League.

The partnership between Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy is simply unplayable at times.

And I doff my cap to the fantastic effort they’ve put in this year, with all the players doing their bit to make sure last season’s 14th-place finish has been built upon with tremendous success so far.

Leicester City were 5,000/1 at the beginning of the season to win the Premier League title. They are now 20/1.

We did have one Skybet customer who bet £35 on them at 5,000/1, and I will be tracing him the day before Christmas to find out what he knew that nobody else did.

Claudio Ranieri has done really well in terms of keeping things going from last season.

Sometimes the best managers do very little and, fair play to Ranieri, by leaving things alone he has managed to nurture what was there already and build on it.

I can’t mention Leicester City without also talking about Bournemouth.

Everybody in football loves an underdog, so to see them beat Chelsea and Manchester United in their last two games has been brilliant.

Bookies certainly love upsets like that, but I also think fans generally love to see the big clubs brought down to earth by a so-called minnow.

Finally, well done to the Huddersfield Town players for bouncing back from the disappointment of defeat against Bristol City to register their most important three points of the season in a home win for head coach David Wagner.

Hopefully, now, the gap can grow between Town and the clubs at the bottom of the standings and, under Wagner, they can progress to a safe mid-table position.
