The 19-year-old is expected to make his Premiership debut for Sunderland tomorrow after being recalled from his Galpharm loan.

But he'll be keeping a close eye on Town's result against Rotherham and their prospects during the run-in.

"I've had a great time with Town and it's been a brilliant experience," said Smith.

"I'm really grateful to Peter Jackson for the opportunity and to have played eight League games has been terrific for me.

"Whether I'll be involved against Bolton tomorrow I'm not really sure just yet, but I'll definitely be looking out for Town's result."

Smith arrived in January and after a winning substitute appearance against Oldham, he made seven straight starts before being left out at Hartlepool.

"I don't see any reason why Town can't go up," added Smith.

"The fans are superb, the stadium is excellent and the management and squad are tremendous.

"There's definitely the quality to win promotion and, obviously, I wish everyone all the best.

"I've made a lot of friends at the club, I'll definitely be staying in touch with the lads and I'll be keeping a close watch on how they go on.

"Obviously I hope they go up and I think they will. Huddersfield are a big club and they deserve to be in the Championship."
