David Wagner: Why our fans can be so important for Huddersfield Town against Preston

Crowd of 15,000 on cards for Boxing Day

Huddersfield Town v Rotherham Utd. John Smith's Stadium, Huddersfield. David Wagner celebrates his first win.

Huddersfield Town’s fans have been asked to ramp up the atmosphere at the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday.

That’s because visitors Preston North End are expected to have a following of more than 2,500 and could possibly get near selling out the Chadwick Lawrence South Stand.

A crowd of around 15,000 is expected and coach David Wagner said: “I’m very excited about experiencing the Boxing Day game, which is a very big thing in English football.

“Ever since I arrived I can only say positive things about our supporters – they give us great backing at home and away.

“I think our fans are clever enough to separate results from performances and I think they are very sensible – they recognise the work we are doing.

“They can see if we have been lucky or unlucky during a game and it’s very important they can see we have a mentality to win.

“I can only say very good things about our support and this is why I am excited to be playing this Boxing Day game at home.

“I have always been used to having a winter break, but this is new and exciting, although to have two games in three days with QPR coming up on Monday is just crazy!”
