David Wagner has been hammering home the message he wants Huddersfield Town to be solid at defensive set pieces and put up a clean sheet against Rotherham United.

The head coach says all the necessary scouting has been done and videos watched – so he doesn’t want a repeat of the mistakes which proved so costly against Bristol City .

Town slipped to goals from Jonathan Kodjia and Aden Flint – both from rehearsed free-kick moves off the training ground – and Wagner says Town have to be much more watchful against Neil Redfearn’s second-bottom Championship side.

“Firstly, I have to say we defended set pieces very well in our first three games,” explained Wagner, who has Harry Bunn pressing for a start after his impressive substitute appearance last weekend.

“Looking at the two set pieces we conceded on Saturday, the first one was from a very, very good delivery and very difficult to defend – sometimes you have to say the opponent did well.

“The second one was something I’m not happy with. The movement for the set piece was exactly what we spoke about and also saw in the video meeting.

“Everybody was prepared for the situation, but mistakes happen and they are part of the game. It should have been very easy to defend and we were prepared, but in that moment we were not ready in our heads to defend it. We have to correct this.”
