HUDDERSFIELD Town have injury worries over both Nahki Well and Emyr Huws ahead of their crunch showdown with Rotherham United at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Five-goal top-scorer Wells damaged an ankle during Saturday’s 2-1 defeat by Bristol City while Huws was forced off with a hamstring problem shortly after missing a penalty.

The worry over on-loan Wigan Athletic man Huws comes after his fellow midfielder Dean Whitehead was sidelined for a possible two months with a knee injury.

“Nahki had an ice pack on his ankle after the game and we will wait and see,” said Wagner, whose side are 20th, three places above Rotherham and two points above the relegation zone.

“I don’t think Emyr will be fit, but I will check with the physio staff before we make a definite decision.”

First-half goals by Jonathan Kodjia and Aden Flint, either side of Huws’ penalty miss, condemned Town to a third defeat in four games under Wagner and a fourth in succession at home.

Harry Bunn came off the bench to score late on.

But Wagner says Town have to be better at both ends of the pitch.

“We weren’t clinical enough and our set-piece defending was not good enough,” he explained.

“And I was also disappointed about the first minutes of the game, because we didn’t have the ball the way we like to.

“Mistakes are part of the game, and we have to accept them and work hard to stop them.

“But I also saw positives. Our fitness is getting better and our substitutions gave us something different.

“Our second-half performance was improved and it was important how we reacted.

“We stopped them scoring again, and we created chances.

“I think we lost the game because of ourselves, not because our opponents were better than us.”

It’s another £10 admission match against Neil Redfearn’s Rotherham, who trail Town by three points and lost 1-0 at Blackburn Rovers on Friday, their second successive defeat.
