Fantastic. That’s all I can say about what I’ve seen and heard of David Wagner’s impact at Huddersfield Town.

Bringing back those t hree points from Birmingham was just what was needed at exactly the right time.

When a new manager or head coach comes into a club, the crucial thing is that fans can quickly see a change in emphasis, attitude and style – and that’s been apparent since Day One under Wagner at PPG Canalside.

Town gained plaudits for their performances against Sheffield Wednesday and, more so, against Middlesbrough at home – and they are one of the best teams in the Skybet Championship.

But plaudits don’t keep you in the division, so that win last week at St Andrew’s to kick Town up to 19th was absolutely vital.

Sky Bet Championship - Birmingham City (0) v Huddersfield Town (2) - Nahki Wells celebrates scoring Town's second goal.

There are only nine points separating Rotherham in 23rd from Blackburn and Wolves in the middle of the table – and they are only two points from a place in the top half.

That just shows how quickly any team can pull away from trouble and, conversely, be dragged into relegation threat if they don’t perform.

Bristol City visiting the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday is the perfect opportunity for Town to kick on.

And I will be putting them up as a win bet in my Skybet Football League ‘FL72 Podcast’.

I do the podcast every week, trying to point people in the direction of some winners, and this is the first time all season I’ve included Town, so I do hope I don’t turn out to be a jinx.

The truth is I firmly believe Town will win, even without Dean Whitehead, just because of the work ethic and set-up of the team under Wagner and also the positive input from the supporters.
